Meet
Danielle Ferguson, LPC
Anxiety, self-esteem, and relationship therapist in Atlanta, Georgia.
You can gain clarity, feel empowered, and move forward with confidence and purpose.
Are you ready to break the status quo that’s keeping you cemented in the same cycles, the same thoughts, and same routine?
The world keeps moving and the life you vision or daydream about seems just that…a dream. Do you find yourself exhausted from constantly comparing yourself and battling with your own inner conflicts, where your past and future self-seem to be at odds with your present self? You’ve come to realize for some time now that trying to be a “self-healer” and do it all yourself is not showing you the results you need.
When it feels as if you have hundreds of tabs open in your mind it makes it difficult to get things done and stay on task.
Do you get sensory overwhelm because you experience life and emotions intensely? You bounce from feeling numb and disconnected to completely overwhelmed. As someone who is neurodivergent, you might be facing challenges in finding a sense of belonging and acceptance in a world that often expects neurotypical behavior.
Are you constantly faced with high standards, imposter syndrome, and feel like you are underperforming, leading to overthinking, self-doubt, isolation, overachieving, and people-pleasing? It can be quite defeating when you have come to realize that you’ve been more of an observer or lived life on autopilot, and now you’re striving to reclaim control. Have you begun questioning yourself on do you genuinely feel content, or might you be stuck in a state of complacency? Being successful and finding yourself and happiness does not have to mean feeling like crap!
Let’s move you from having a “worrier” mindset to a “warrior” mindset!
Working with me will allow you the space to process, acknowledge, and challenge the hard, the confusing, uncomfortable, and stuck points of your life. Maybe you’ve worked with a therapist in the past and whether it was a positive or negative experience, a good fit or not so much, you didn’t achieve the results you wanted and that left you unsure if therapy was helpful or if you did therapy ‘right’?
Together, we will move past superficial “rewiring” and symptom management to make meaningful change and healing past hurts, by learning regulation and re-examining beliefs to meet your own needs. We will gain not only insight, but also change and action. We will identify what is most important to you and other areas that we may need to focus on to create the change you want, and then develop a step-by-step plan with solutions.
When you choose to collaborate with me in therapy, I start by creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where we can explore your thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and current coping techniques at a comfortable pace. Through this process, you will discover increased curiosity, insight, and self-trust as we uncover the influences and experiences that have shaped you.
However, our journey does not end with insight alone. While it is a crucial step, healing old wounds requires more than just understanding. That is why at times we will move beyond traditional talk therapy because, as valuable as it is, talking and thinking about your issues may only take you so far. You may intellectually grasp your challenges, but that may not bridge the emotional gap between your thoughts and your feelings.
We can work together to build your ability to cope with the uncertainty of life and the challenges it brings.
While life offers numerous opportunities, it also brings moments of discomfort, doubt, and unwelcome emotions. By developing the skills to manage these challenges, you can experience a more fulfilling and vibrant life.
You deserve a therapist who gets you, as a millennial myself I am able to not only provide you with the tools to get through your concerns, but also be able to add a level of relatability who has had to do their own therapy when it comes to anxiety, depression, and trauma.
As your therapist I will challenge you to be your best authentic self, and if you do not know who or what that is then I will be your advocate in helping you figure that out. I am not only willing but welcome the opportunity to get into and sit in the uncomfortable right alongside you. I’ll be your champion to not have you go through this mental health journey alone. You won’t just get a trained therapist; you’ll get someone who truly understands what you’re going through and will provide a real and approachable space to explore all aspects of your identity.
My goal is not that you leave each session with life-changing lightbulb moments, but instead you leave feeling that each session is progressing you toward your goals and is time well spent.
Therapy is an investment not just financially, but an investment for your own overall well-being and future. Therapy can look different week by week from processing the events from the past week, working together through a book/workbook, to using various exercises to dive deeply into past experiences, emotions, and thoughts to cultivate new skills and perspective to use in your day-to-day.
I am a holistic and intersectional therapist who considers all aspects of your life and identity, including race, gender, sexuality, social class, age, religion/spirituality, and ability. As an eclectic, non-secular therapist, I use a variety of techniques to meet your unique needs and therapy goals. While I don’t lead sessions with any specific religious or spiritual beliefs, I can incorporate your practices if you prefer. I collaborate with clients from diverse backgrounds and my focus areas include anxiety, life transitions, perfectionism, adult ADHD, sexual & emotional trauma, sexuality, self-identity, relationships, and low self-esteem. My hope is to also create a healing space where teens, QTIBIPOC, neurodivergent, and non-monogamous individuals feel seen and heard. If my approach aligns with your needs, I would be honored to support you on your journey. If not, I encourage you to find a therapist who is the best fit for you.

Why rethinking me therapy?
As we go through the daily grind of life and self-discovery some of us get to a point where we realize we are not where we thought we would be in life, or not experiencing as much fun and love as we expected. At times, we might find ourselves on autopilot, following a predetermined path, or wearing a mask to fit someone else’s expectations, all in pursuit of what we believed would make us happy. However, it’s not- or at least not completely.
This isn’t about you becoming a new person, it is for you to rediscover, reclaim, and reconnect you to your core values and your needs. To be able to not only reimagine yourself, but actually put into action different ways you can have your present match your best self, while healing and forgiving your past self. In therapy we will focus on the ongoing journey of self-discovery, self-exploration, self-acceptance, and empowerment.
Let’s move from upholding the present status quo, to rethinking your future
Who is it for:
Rethinking Me Therapy is best for Millennials and Gen Z (~Ages 15-45) if you have been having difficulty with anxiety, confidence, relationships, identifying direction in life, feeling cemented in place from the past and future, or not knowing how to put yourself first without feeling selfish or guilty. Or just overall fed up feeling this way and trying to manage it all on your own with steps that just aren’t working, you just don’t know how to get rid of the pressure of keeping it up. You’re ready to let go of the mindset that it’s a me problem, and not a we problem.
You’re willing to be open and get real with yourself on characteristics and habits that are holding you back and do the hard work of challenging yourself, getting vulnerable, and being open to trying things differently.
We’ll use techniques such as IFS (internal family systems), schema therapy, REBT (rational emotive behavioral therapy), narrative therapy, geek therapy, experiential therapy, art interventions, and other treatment modalities to help you break unhelpful patterns, while identifying the root cause. So that we can direct our efforts to the source rather than just the symptoms and be able to step into a more authentic, vibrant, secure, and confident version of yourself.
If this is you, let’s begin the work today. I offer both in-person and online sessions with flexible morning and evening times to accommodate your busy schedule.
Who it is not for:
Counseling with me isn’t the best fit for everyone – and that’s okay. I believe it is of the upmost importance that you find a therapist you feel comfortable with and in some way be able to relate to you. I will work with those over 45, however I do not work with those under 15 years of age.
Those who aren’t willing to get uncomfortable and vulnerable, looking to get major ‘lightbulb’ moments in every session to fast-track therapy, don’t have any goals, and are wanting me to do the work for you will not get your desired results working with me.
If you are looking for a “quick fix” to your current concerns, to just go through the motions and tell me what you think I want to hear, or if you’re a parent who is using therapy to punish or scare your teen and not willing to uphold your child’s confidentiality from sessions – I also am not the best option for you.
Counseling with me is about doing the work whether that is processing through past hurt, tough memories and emotions, or being open to identifying both your strengths and unhelpful/unhealthy behaviors so that you just don’t return doing what you’ve always done. I don’t just focus on the symptoms because that is how you end up in therapy for years on the same thing as we aren’t just here to clean up the spill, we’re here to also pick up the glass. Doing this type of work takes time and dedication to create lasting change and although it differs between individuals based on where they are, it is an investment in you (past, present, and future). While I absolutely do offer ways in which you can improve your day-to-day life, we focus more on cultivating and maintaining long-term growth.
